"A jury found that a plaintiff was not damaged by false promises a former Texaco salesman made (against corporate policy) in selling franchises, but decided that the fact of the promise entitled the plaintiff to $33.8 million in punitive damages." Read about it here from my pals at Overlawyered.com (who reported it first), or now here from law.com.

After proving that a lawsuit was frivolous,In a civil civil lawsuit a jury returned a vedict against me of zero comp damages but 10,000 in punitive damages. The judge would not accept their verdict & made them award compensatory damages. The Law firm that sued me had been my law firm for many years & had performed for me several real estate deals etc. Only two days before starting their lawsuit, my wife & I had been to them to sign our wills. It is a long complicated cae.
