Daughter Of Bay Of Pigs Pilot Sues Morgan Chase Bank for $22 Million

MANHATTAN (CN) – The daughter of Thomas Willard Ray, a pilot with the Alabama Air National Guard who flew on a CIA mission during the Bay of Pigs invasion and was shot down and executed in Cuba, has sued JP Morgan Chase Bank for $22.6 million in Federal Court, claiming U.S. courts have awarded her damages against Cuba for more than that amount, and that Chase has the money in Cuban accounts but refuses to release it. Plaintiff Janet Weininger claims she was awarded the money in 2003 by Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, and that U.S. laws on terrorism override the Cuban Asset Control Regulations, which Morgan Chase claims freezes the money. Defendant has the cash in Cuban accounts, she says, including $44 million in a “Rabinowitz Boudin” account in New York and $26.2 million in an AT&T account. It’s time to pay up, she says. She is represented by Greenberg, Traurig.
