Breakfast lovers beware, another popular brand of hash browns has been recalled. Why? Well, apparently certain bags of Wegmans branded frozen hash brown products might contain pieces of golf balls. The recall itself was issued by McCain Foods, and according to an FDA press release, the golf balls “may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make the product.”

The recall itself was issued by McCain Foods, and according to an FDA press release, the golf balls “may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make the product.”
So what bags of frozen hash browns should consumers be on the lookout for, exactly? At the moment, the recall is for the 28-ounce bags of Wegmans frozen O’Brien hash browns that have the UPC code 07789036523 and a manufactured date of October 21, 2016. Additionally, the “production code date, which can be found on the bag, is B161021.” So far, the recalled product has only been distributed throughout New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Fortunately, there haven’t been any reports of consumer injuries related to the recall, though “there have been consumer complaints of hard plastic or rubber pieces.” Because of the complaints, consumers who have a bag of the recalled hash browns sitting in their freezer are being urged to “throw them away or return them to Wegmans.”
It’s also important to point out that while no other Wegmans branded products are impacted by this new recall, the recall itself joins two others that were issued earlier this month that included Roundy’s and Harris Teeter Brand Hash Browns.
