    Notice of Appeal, Asshole

Plaintiff George C. Swinger, Jr., an inmate in Washington State, filed a pro se Notice of Appeal in a civil case before U.S. District Judge Ronald B. Leighton in the Western District of Washington. The Notice, filed July 12, 2006, states:

I hereby am informing you that I am appealing the asshole Ronald B. Leighton's decision in this matter.

You have been hereby served Notice. You're not getting away with this shit that easy.

You can view the handwritten Notice of Appeal here (.pdf). (via FBK) (That's almost as good as a "Motion to Kiss My Ass" . . . .)

That'll go over well with the court.

Not that surprizing to me. I work in a state psychiatric hospital and our people write similar things to judges, governors, the FBI all the time. The phrasing is quite perfect, however.

How do we know the judge isn't really an asshole?

While the adjective "asshole" might be deemed out of order, being an ad hominem attack, the second statement, alleging that the judge was "getting away with this shit" is a legal challenge, asseringing judicial impropriety, which may fall outside judicial immunity, for which the petitioner deserves a hearing to show cause...

A notice of appeal is usually a formulaic document, but this one is a bit more colorful and funny. I wonder what the reaction of the lawyer and judge reaction was. medical malpractice lawyers

The notice of appeal in this scenario is indeed funny. I wanted to know how the court and the judge reacted on this.
