Another recall has been issued, this time for a popular organic chicken sausage produced by Perdue Foods LLC. The recall was issued after complaints started rolling in from customers claiming they found “pieces of blue plastic inside the product,” specifically the “organic Italian chicken sausage manufactured under its Harvestland brand.”

So far, nearly 2,148 pounds of the chicken product has been recalled, though it’s important to note that only sausage with a production date of March 27, 2017, are impacted by the recall. To better identify whether you or someone you know has one of these packages of recalled sausage, Perdue has said the product is “sold in 24-oz plastic packaging and contain eight links of fully cooked, ready-to-eat PERDUE HARVESTLAND Italian Style Organic Chicken Sausage bearing package code 64405 and a sell of freeze by date of 6/25/17.” Additionally, the affected products were only shipped to Maryland and Connecticut retailers.
According to the recall notice, “customers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them.” The notice advises consumers to throw away or return the product to the place of purchase for a refund. Fortunately, so far there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses related to the recall.
