Popular ATVs Recalled Amid Fire Hazard Concerns

— August 14, 2017

A voluntary recall has been issued for Kawasaki “all-terrain vehicles due to fire hazard.” Though 18 reports of fuel leaks have been reported to Kawasaki, no one has been hurt so far.

The warmer weather usually finds more people outdoors enjoying the sun and warmth before colder weather arrives. Some find joy in fishing or hiking, while others find relaxation at the beach or tending to an outdoor garden. Some, however, seize the warm summer months as a time to enjoy a ride or two on an ATV. Unfortunately for some ATV owners, a voluntary recall has been issued for Kawasaki “all-terrain vehicles due to fire hazard.” Though 18 reports of fuel leaks have been reported to Kawasaki, no one has been hurt so far.

At the moment the recall includes “2013-2017 KFX50 and 2012-2017 KFX90 Kawasaki” ATVs. The ATVs included in the recall all have four wheels, “seating for one person and were sold in a variety of colors.”

But how can ATV owners tell if they have one of the recalled vehicles? It’s simple. Simply identify the model name printed on the fender and check the vehicle identification number (VIN) up against the following list from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) :
