Lawyer Sentenced for Charity Schemes

— January 13, 2004

A heroin-addicted lawyer who once represented a homicidal mother-son scamming duo was sentenced to a year in jail for scheming to steal nearly $80,000 from Sept. 11-related charities.

Matthew Weissman, 47, was sentenced Monday on his Nov. 5 conviction on 24 counts related to the thefts.

I hate it when that happens! Weissman was also summarily disbarred, the AP reports here.
