GRAND RAPIDS [MI] — Thomas M. Cooley Law School appealed a U.S. District Court ruling that prevents expansion of course offerings at its campus here and in Oakland County.
The decision means a longer commute for many Cooley students in Grand Rapids.
U.S. District Judge David McKeague last month ruled the American Bar Association, which has the authority to certify law schools, can deny the Lansing-based school the ability to expand until at least July 2006.
The decision means students can take only 15 of the 90 credits required for graduation at Cooley’s satellite campuses in Rochester and Grand Rapids, said associate dean James Robb, the school’s general counsel.
