23,000 Dream on Me Child Mattresses Recalled Over Fire Hazard Concerns

— December 14, 2017

An important recall has been issued that parents should be aware of. The company “Dream on Me recently recalled 23,400 crib and toddler mattresses sold in 2016 because they fail to meet federal flammability standards.” This is particularly dangerous because in failing to meet the flammability standards, the mattresses actually pose a risk of fire, according to the Consumer Product Commission (CPSC).

At the moment the recall affects “10 models of crib and toddler mattresses sold in a variety of colors and patterns.” The product itself was sold between January 2016 through December 2016 at a number of online retailers, including Kohls.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, ToyRUS.com, and Wayfair.com.

Families that have the recalled Dream on Me mattress should discontinue use immediately. But how can parents tell if their child’s mattress is included in the recall? For starters, you can “check the model number against the CPSC recall notice, which includes the full list of models.” The mattress model number is “on a tag at the center of the top of the mattress.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported yet. Anyone with questions or concerns related to the recall can contact the Dream on Me customer service team at 877-201-4317 or www.dreamonme.com.
