BRIO Baby Rattles Recalled Over Potential Choking Hazard

— August 21, 2017

Unfortunately for parents, toy recalls have been in the news quite a bit lately. Earlier this week, BRIO of Sweden issued a recall for nearly “1,700 BRIO soft hammer rattles sold in the U.S. and Canada” because apparently, the “wooden rings on the hammer rattles can crack.” When that happens, it can pose a “choking hazard to children.”

Unfortunately for parents, toy recalls have been in the news quite a bit lately. Earlier this week, BRIO of Sweden issued a recall for nearly “1,700 BRIO soft hammer rattles sold in the U.S. and Canada” because apparently, the “wooden rings on the hammer rattles can crack.” When that happens, it can pose a “choking hazard to children.” The toy looks like a toy hammer with a “white plastic teething ring at one end and a red, yellow, white and green hammer head at the other end,” and the word BRIO is “stamped on the hammer head.”

Unfortunately, the toys, which were manufactured in China, were distributed to retailers nationwide and online between “March 2015, through June 2017.” The stores they were sold at include Amazon.com, “Home Goods, Kidding Around, Nordstrom and other specialty toy and mass retailer stores,” according to the recall notice

The recall was issued after the company received a handful of reports and complaints of the wooden ring cracking. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. However, if you have one of the recalled rattles in your home, you should stop using it at once and “contact BRIO for instructions on how to receive a full refund or a replacement product of similar value.”

BRIO can be contacted at www.brio.us by clicking on ‘RECALLS’ or by calling 800-886-1236 between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
