Carter’s Issues Recall of Popular Children’s Cardigan Sets Amid Choking Hazard Concerns

If you’re the parent of a baby and enjoy dressing them in Carter’s clothing, this recall notice is for you. Recently, Carter’s decided to recall “more than 100,000 three-piece cardigan sets sold in sizes newborn to 24 months” over choking hazard concerns. As it turns out, the button on the cardigan can “fall off, posing a choking hazard to young wearers.”

Recently, Carter’s decided to recall “more than 100,000 three-piece cardigan sets sold in sizes newborn to 24 months” over choking hazard concerns. As it turns out, the button on the cardigan can “fall off, posing a choking hazard to young wearers.”

The recall itself involves the Carter’s “cardigan set with a penguin printed on the bodysuit.”According to the recall notice, the cardigan set “consists of a white embroidered penguin bodysuit, a gray cardigan with a hood and matching pants.”

The recall was issued after the company “received three reports of children placing detached buttons in their mouths.” Fortunately, no injuries have been reported yet, though it is important to note that the recalled sets were sold at “Carter’s, Bon-Ton, Burlington Stores, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Ross Stores, Toys “R” Us and online at www.carters.com” between July 2017 and March 18.

But how can parents and other customers tell if they have one of the recalled sets? For starters, the style number mentioned in the recall is 127G596, which is “printed on the front tag sewn on the cardigan.” In addition, “the UPC number printed on the back.” At the moment, the recalled products have the following UPCs:

  • 190795798135
  • 190795798142
  • 190795798159

If you or someone you know has one of the recalled cardigan sets, you can return the product to your local Carter’s store for a refund. Additionally, you can call or email Carter’s Consumer Affairs team “for a free return label to ship the cardigan back.”
