Perigo’s Chairman and CEO Joseph C. Papa issued a statement regarding the voluntary recall:

“There have been no reports of adverse events to Perrigo as a result of the incorrect dosage markings. Perrigo is taking this action to maintain the highest possible product quality standards for our retail customers and consumers. We are taking this action because it is the right thing to do.”

While using the cough syrup with the mismarked dosing cup according to the instructions is unlikely to produce serious side effects, customers who have an affected product are being advised to discard the dosing cup and cough syrup.

Perrigo is making arrangements for the return of all the recalled cough syrup and is contacting its distributors via verbal and e-mail methods with a follow-up formal notice sent via FedEd. Distributors and retailers are being instructed to cease distribution and sales of affected products and return them to the company.

If you have questions about this recall, Perrigo invites you to call 888-645-0479.
