It seems the year of the recall, 2015, is carrying over into this year. GM announced over 473K vehicle recall due to brake pedals. The brake pedals may come loose, which causes them not to work properly.

According to GM, the problem involves a nut on the brake pedal pivot mechanism. The nut can loosen, with causes the pedal to loosen and could render it inoperative. To date, GM has not received reports of crashes or injuries due to the issue.

If the pedals weren’t repaired at the factory, owners of the recalled vehicles can get them inspected and necessary repairs done at local dealerships. The repair is simple: applying adhesive to the nut and tightening it.

Canadian regulators report that one issue they found is that the problem can cause the brake lights to stay on longer than expected.

GM advises that the recall effort will begin soon.
