— September 18, 2017

A new safety recall has been issued by Studio Fun International for slap bracelets sold with “DreamWorks Trolls: It’s Hug Time!” storybooks. Why? Well, it turns out the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received reports that the slap bracelets can “cause cuts to the hands and fingers.” As a result, an estimated 79,000 bracelets are being recalled.

The bracelet itself is made “of an inner, flexible metal band that is wrapped in a purple fabric cover with a pink fabric flower,” and were sold at a variety of different book fairs, retailers, and online stores nationwide. So how can parents tell if they have one of the recalled products? For starters, they were sold between “September 2016 to August 2017” for $13, and have an ISBN of 978-0-7944-3840-1 “printed on the back of the book.”

According to the CPSC, parents with the recalled product should dispose of it and “contact Studio Fun International for instructions on discarding the bracelet and to receive a free Trolls book.” The company can be reached at 800-489-3402 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or online at www.studiofun.com.
