— July 25, 2019

Board-certified neurosurgeon to see patients in Goodyear and Scottsdale ASCs.

Phoenix Spine & Joint, an ambulatory surgery center with a patient-centric focus and innovative ultra-minimally invasive procedures, announces the addition of Dr. Bruce D. Moffatt. The neurosurgeon will serve the organization’s patients in both metro-Phoenix locations in Goodyear and Scottsdale.

Dr. Moffatt also has a special interest in expert witness services. He is available to see patients for independent medical examination, as well as traditional consultation.

“Dr. Moffatt is an incredibly accomplished surgeon and one who understands and appreciates the emphasis we put on patient experience,” said Dr. Daniel Lieberman, Medical Director, Phoenix Spine & Joint. “We think he’s the perfect addition to our surgical team as we continue to grow and serve patients hailing from cities throughout Arizona, the United States and the world.”

Board certificated by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Moffatt brings with him more than 30 years of experience in neurosurgery. He’ll join the organization’s collection of board-certified neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and chiropractors who focus on helping patients find relief from ailments that cause pain in the neck, back, hip, knee and shoulder.

Dr. Moffatt received a bachelor’s degree with honors in both Biology and Neurosciences from the University of Rochester in New York. While there, he completed research in the Department of Anatomy and The Center for Brain Research to prepare him for what he knew would be a career in neurosurgery.

He completed medical school at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida, before completing an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurological surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Moffatt’s post-graduate training consisted of a neurological surgery fellowship at Brown University’s Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

His most recent surgical appointment was with The Bonati Spine Institute, for whom he also worked earlier in his career, but Dr. Moffatt was an instrumental part in the growth of Laser Spine Institute from 2012 to 2017. In his time with that organization, he performed surgery out of both its ASCs in Wayne, Pennsylvania and Scottsdale, Arizona. Earlier in his career, he held staff positions at trauma centers in Mission Viejo, California; Orlando, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Dr. Moffatt is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery, North American Spine Society and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
