Porn Site Says “No!” to North Carolina over Restroom Law

— April 12, 2016

Recently, North Carolina passed a law forbidding transgender individuals the freedom to use the public restroom that matches their innate gender instead of the one on their birth certificates. The backlash against this ridiculous law has ranged from other states forbidding non-essential travel to North Carolina to businesses backing out of multi-million dollar deals to one superstar of rock, Bruce Springsteen, canceling his Greensboro concert appearance. Now, a popular porn site says “No!” to North Carolina over restroom law.

North Carolinians are going to be uptight and unhappy in the days to come. XHamster.com, a popular site for those who enjoy pornography, has blocked all North Carolina IP addresses in protest of the new law.

The law, purportedly, was meant to protect innocent women and girls from being raped and molested, when in fact, such acts in public restrooms are exclusively the purview of heterosexual, cisgender men. The fact that the bill passed both houses of the legislature and was signed into law by the governor in ten hours and without any clear guidance to authorities as to how to enforce it, suggests it was more a malicious piece of discriminatory legislation based on fear and ignorance than a law meant to offer anyone protection. In fact, requiring a transgender individual to use the restroom of their birth certificate gender could easily put the transgender individual at risk for great harm.

The law is so vague in its enforcement guidelines that it’s left law enforcement officials in all counties scratching their heads in confusion. XHamster’s response to the law won’t clarify enforcement issues, but will certainly affect other types of head scratching and in an equally frustrating manner.

If you’re a North Carolinian hoping for some quality “alone time,” one suggests you resort to your imagination or break out your credit card for the more expensive pay sites. All you’ll see from XHamster until the repeal of this heinous law is a black screen. Eventually, XHamster will replace the black screen of denial with a petition for the repeal of HB2, the infamous restroom law.

Denied!
Denied!

One detests hypocrisy in all its forms. Truly, one finds it as offensive as some people may find pornography. According to Mike Kulich, an XHamster spokesperson, the North Carolinian supporters of the restroom law are as steeped in hypocrisy as a college freshman is in over-powering body spray.

Mr. Kulich said, “These laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate. Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one.”

Why ever would Mr. Kulich say such a thing? According to XHamster records, the site gets over 400,000 searches for “transsexual” and over 319,000 for “gay.”

One interprets these numbers to mean that many, many, many North Carolinians are more than happy to watch transsexuals (a term often mistakenly used interchangeably with “transgender”) and/or gay men do much more than use a restroom. In fact, they wouldn’t be watching the person in question actually use the restroom, thanks to stalls. Frankly, it smacks of discrimination, hypocrisy and cowardice.

If a person can engage in one-handed web surfing while watching the same people forbidden to use the same bathrooms, that person is a bigot, a hypocrite and a coward. If an individual is good enough to scratch an itch to, that individual is good enough to sit next to in a public restroom. For those who disagree, one suggests sensitivity training or a crash course in Kegels so as to enable you to avoid the need of public restrooms.

One also suggests that you take this “dry spell” as time to engage in another, equally satisfying, exercise: introspection. It may not be as physically stimulating, but one guarantees the mental stimulation and self-discovery may prove to be quite freeing. One suspects that certain of you (one looks to the North Carolina legislature here) might be surprised at what you find when you shine a light on your “special dark place.” After all, if watching it over 400,000 times is doing something for you, then you just might find it’s time to leave the confines of your mental closets.

Mr. Kulich also said, “I think that porn has the power to do what Bruce Springsteen can’t.” One assumes he meant changing minds about discriminatory laws, rather than causing people to rock out. Then again, there is that expression about rocking out…

As a side note, one hopes for the sake of all college students approaching finals (as well as for all the decent people harmed by it) that this silly law is repealed soon. One imagines college finals truly drive loads of traffic to XHamster’s site. After all, cold showers can only do so much to relieve Calculus II stress.
