Earlier this week, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USPSC) issued a recall of more than 200,000 Xtava Allure hair dryers over concerns that the can potentially “catch fire or deliver electrical shocks.”

Earlier this week, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USPSC) issued a recall of more than 200,000 Xtava Allure hair dryers over concerns that the can potentially “catch fire or deliver electrical shocks.”
The decision to issue the recall came after nearly 200 people submitted reports of the hair dryers and power cords “overheating, melting, exploding, or catching fire while in use.” So far, eighteen people have suffered “burns while using the product, with one of those being classified as a ‘severe’ burn.”
The recalled dryers were sold at a variety of retailers, including eBay, Amazon, Groupon, Walmart, and the Xtava website. Additionally, according to the recall notice, the hair dryers were sold “individually or in a hair care pack that included treatment products, a flat iron or a diffuser.”
Consumers can tell if they have one of the recalled dryers by checking the SKU numbers located on the product label. The following SKU numbers are included in the recall:

- XTV010001N
- XTV010002
- XTV010002N
