In conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Sargent Art recalls bacteria contaminated crafts paints. Roughly 2.8M units sold in the U.S. contain the harmful, but not publicly identified bacteria. So far, no problems have been reported due to the contamination; however, those with compromised immune systems face a greater risk of developing serious bacterial infections. Those whose immune systems are healthy most likely won’t be affected.
The recalled paints were sold throughout the U.S. via Walmart, Hobby Lobby and other bricks-and-mortar stores, in addition to online sales through ShopSargentArt.com and Amazon.com. The affected paints were sold from May 2015 – June 2016 and include different colors and sizes of 13 varieties of Sargent Art Tempera and Finger Paints. Per the CPSC, all colors and sizes of the following paints are part of the recall:
- Art-Time Tempera Paint
- Liquid Tempera Paint
- Art-Time Washable Finger Paint
- Supreme Tempera Paint
- Art-Time Washable Fluorescent Finger Paint
- Value Tempera Paint
- Art-Time Washable Fluorescent Tempera Paint
- Washable Finger Paint
- Art-Time Washable Glitter Finger Paint
