Trump Attacks Rupert Murdoch in Recent Court Filings

— July 29, 2025

“Murdoch is 94 years old, has suffered from multiple health issues throughout his life, is believed to have suffered recent significant health scares, and is presumed to live in New York, New York,” Trump’s filing states.

President Donald Trump’s legal team has launched a direct attack on Rupert Murdoch, the owner of The Wall Street Journal and FOX News.

In a recent round of legal filings, Trump asked a Miami-based federal judge to compel Rupert Murdoch, a man Trump once described as a “very good friend,” to answer questions under oath within the next several weeks.

The one of the filing is dry and sarcastic, making repeated references to Murdoch’s old age and chronical medical problems as justification for a quick deposition.

“Murdoch is 94 years old, has suffered from multiple health issues throughout his life, is believed to have suffered recent significant health scares, and is presumed to live in New York, New York,” Trump’s filing states. “Taken together, these factors weigh heavily in determining that Murdoch would be unavailable for in-person testimony at trial.”

Trump’s lawsuit largely centers on a recent story published by the Wall Street Journal.

In the article, reporters for the Journal claimed to have been shown a handmade birthday card, created by Donald Trump in celebration of Jeffrey Epstein’s birthday.

“Inside the outline of the naked woman was a typewritten note styled as an imaginary conversation between Trump and Epstein, written in the third person,” the Journal  reported.

The birthday card contained a joke about how “enigmas never age,” ending with the words, “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump has vehemently denied the Journal’s story, going so far as to say that he couldn’t be responsible for a birthday card because he simply does not like to draw.

“These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures,” Trump wrote online.

Trump has also tried blaming the card on an ambiguous Democratic conspiracy, taking to Truth Social to boast about his recently-filed “POWERHOUSE Lawsuit against everyone involved in publishing the false, malicious, defamatory, FAKE NEWS ‘article’ in the useless ‘rag’ that is, The Wall Street Journal.”

The Wall Street Journal, and Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Mr. Murdoch stated that he would take care of it but, obviously, did not have the power to do so.”

“The Press has to learn to be truthful, and not rely on sources that probably don’t even exist,” Trump wrote.
