Florida Mom Sues Campbell’s, Walmart, Claims She Found “Worms” in SpaghettiOs

— June 4, 2026

Hubbard claims that she has since suffered a range of serious and permanent injuries, including an infection and gastroenteritis.

A Florida mother has filed a lawsuit against Campbell Co. and Walmart after allegedly discovering a multitude of moving worms and parasites inside a can of SpaghettiOs that she shared with her daughter.

According to NBC News, the lawsuit was filed on behalf of Mary Hubbard and Gregory Lovell, the father of the child. In court documents, attorneys for the two plaintiffs say that Hubbard purchased the SpaghettiOs from a Walmart Supercenter in Okeechobee in June 2024.

Hubbard later opened the can, planning to serve it to herself and her daughter. After consuming a portion of the soup, though, Hubbard noticed what “appeared to be worms and/or parasites moving in the food.” Attorneys say that Hubbard was able to make a video documenting the organisms, the contents of which “clearly depict worm-like organisms moving within the food product.”

Hubbard claims that she has since suffered a range of serious and permanent injuries, including an infection and gastroenteritis. She continues to require medical care. Her daughter also allegedly experienced symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, purportedly caused by a parasitic infection traced back to the contaminated SpaghettiOs.

A spokesperson for Cambell Co. later told USA Today that, while the company does not comment on pending litigation, it believes that Hubbard’s claims are “without merit.”

“We intend to vigorously defend against these allegations,” a Campbell’s spokesperson told USA Today.

Walmart, in a similar statement, said that it prioritizes the health and well-being of its customers and will respond to the allegations in court.

“The health and safety of our customers is a top priority,” Walmart said. “We are reviewing the complaint and will respond appropriately in court.”

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages of at least $75,000 from Walmart and Campbell Co. It accuses both companies of negligence and violations of federal food safety laws.

The New York Post notes that, in April 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert for 12 soups, including four sold by Campbell Co.
