“This is a win for the TPS community. We are here because our country is in crisis. This is why TPS exists,” plaintiff Cecilia Gonzalez said. “The Ninth Circuit has recognized that the Trump administration cannot do away with TPS simply because they don’t like it. We will keep fighting for our rights under the law.”
The lawsuit asks the court to find that the new maps were “enacted with an impermissible and controlling discriminatory purpose on the basis of race” and to issue a ruling prohibiting Texas from using the updated boundaries.
“The executive branch seeks to bring suit in the name of the United States against a co-equal branch of government,” attorney Paul Clement said. “There really is no precursor for this suit.”
Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, claiming that the president’s decision to fire her was unfounded and without cause. “Simply put, the more people TikTok can get addicted to its app, the more money they make, and the more their users’ mental health suffers,” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said. “This conduct is not just deeply immoral, it’s illegal. Today, I am filing a lawsuit to bring an end to TikTok’s preying on Minnesota’s children.”
