In December, Washington State Patrol staff allegedly created an AI-generated video that depicted Pearson and another uniformed male trooper kissing on a roadside. An automated voiceover states, “this is SWAT training, no homo.”
“The Federal Railroad Administration stated that all work performed by the Authority – whether undertaken as part of cooperative agreements or otherwise – remains ‘at risk’ and may not receive funding,” a rail spokesperson said. “Combined with the Administration’s persistent lack of good-faith engagement, this made clear that the federal government is unlikely to uphold its commitments to California. As a result, the State has opted to move forward without the Trump administration. We regret that they will not share in California’s success.”
“This was known,” said lawyer Matthew Bergman, the lead attorney on the case. “This was not an accident. This was not a coincidence. This was a foreseeable consequence of the deliberate design decisions that Meta made. Their own documents show that they were very aware of this extortion phenomenon, and they simply chose to put their profits over the safety of young people.”
“Adding fuel to the fire, despite its promises, Roblox did little to protect children from these horrific situations that it enabled,” the lawsuit alleges. “Most glaringly, the ease of account creation and failure to verify ages or parental consent, no matter how young the self-identified user, permit Roblox to amass as many child users as possible, while also enabling predators to creative deceptive accounts with impunity.”
“At this stage, the government has not demonstrated that it will suffer irreparably harm without a stay,” the justices wrote.
“I had cuts and a bump on my forehead, I was covered in vomit, my leggings I wore to his house were shredded at the crotch, so I woke up in kind of disarray,” Alexa told CBS News. “My first thought was, it couldn’t be him, he’s a doctor, he took an oath to protect people, like why would he ever do this … but I really couldn’t wrap my head around it. The memory was so much lost. I mean, something horrible happened to me in order for me to end up in this state.”
One of the individual plaintiffs named in the lawsuit, Susan Tincher, claims that she attempted to observe Immigration and Customs Enforcement-related activity on December 9. However, within 15 seconds of her arrival, she was “on the ground in handcuffs.”
Bird’s complaint cites another, earlier lawsuit, filed on behalf of two Iowa parents. In court filings, the parents claim that their 13-year-old daughter was groomed by an adult she met on Roblox. During a trip to her grandmother’s house, the girl vanished. She was later found in Tennessee, where she had been taken and abused by the same adult.
“The court saw this lawsuit for exactly what it was: a cheap political stunt designed to score headlines,” Menefee said. “Harris County will not be intimidated or pushed around by state officials who are more interested in pandering than governing.”
