“The Attorney General’s arguments are unpersuasive. First, Ms. Phang has identified ‘some concrete consequences of not receiving the information,’” Sullivan said. “She has identified ‘half a dozen stories she is currently unable to report’ because the Attorney General has not disclosed the information.”

These threats are not abstract or theoretical. “The President’s attempt to seize control of our elections by selectively refusing to deliver mail-in ballots was unconstitutional and dangerous—and the court was right to strike it down,” Brown said. “We will continue to defend the right of eligible Washington voters to participate ion our democracy.”
“Although Acting Attorney General Blanche reiterated several times during his testimony that the fund was not going forward, when asked whether he would ‘issue a new memo in writing rescinding that May 18 memo,’ he replied, ‘I’m not committing to putting anything in writing. And I said it over and over again,’” Brinkema noted.
The lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning that it can be refiled if the Trump administration finds a way to successfully establish standing.
The court also dismissed “with prejudice” the Trump administration’s claims against Los Angeles City Mayor Karen Bass, City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson and the Los Angeles City Council.
“No one is holding Plaintiffs in a jiu jitsu lock, forcing them to watch UFC Freedom 250 against their wall,” government lawyers wrote. “The public interest does not favor allowing them to exercise a heckler’s veto, particularly at this late date.”
U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema said that she will continue to block the “Anti-Weaponization” fund’s creation and operation. This order will remain in effect unless and until the court rules otherwise.
The lawsuit claims that patients with life-threatening disabilities will likely face pressure from insurance companies, which may be more inclined to recommend death than expensive and time-consuming treatment.
“The historic significance of her chairmanship—first Black woman in 168 years—has been transformed into a public narrative of forced removal,” the pre-litigation letter says.
