A healthcare worker is a person who is working in any health-related department like clinic, pharmacy, and hospital. Not only the doctors, nurses, and frontline workers are the healthcare workers, but so many people are working at the back and not in direct contact with a patient. If the nation is suffering from any viral disease they are the front line warriors of the time as, example with COVID-19.

The main duty of the healthcare worker is to take care of patients and maintain the records of their treatment-related medicines and tests. It is the ethical and legal responsibility of the worker to take care of patients with good care. Because if they ignore their responsibilities and do not fulfill them accurately, then it may cause problems for the patient, and they suffer a lot. Health workers must have a polite attitude towards patients and show ethics.

Healthcare workers are comprised of many occupations and professions, those are providing the many types of services related to human health. Nurses, pathologists, physician assistants, physical therapists, behavior therapists, dentists, phlebotomists, medical laboratory scientists, pharmacists, social workers, and occupational therapists all are healthcare workers. These workers are working in healthcare centers, hospitals, and clinics. Many of them are also in their academic training and a few of them working privately to provide medical facilities to the people.

In many of the countries, a large number of healthcare workers work outside. Other managers, assistants, and technicians are also considered as the main part of the healthcare worker team. When a patient comes to a doctor, it is his/her duty to listen to the problem of the patient carefully and examine them keenly.

To achieve the goals of the healthcare worker community, there are some things on which their career depends. At the top of these things is education; if they have good education then they can examine the patient’s problem very carefully. The second is training, and it is the key to their career. Because more than education a person learn from life experiences. A good trainer trains their students in a good way.

Now in the era of technology, medical translators are introduced. The main responsibility of these translators is to translate or interpret the information that is written in the medical reports. The main duty of the medical translator is to consist of pharmacological instruction, patient detail, and diagnoses. The medical translators must know the two languages accurately and must complete their degree in it. A little mistake may become a matter of life and death for the patient.

The medical translator job is quite tough for the document translator that is why their pay is also high. The per-word rate of the medical translation is $0.12 and the document translation is $0.07. The medical translator translates the doctor’s recommendation to the patient.

Characteristics of Healthcare

  1. They must have ethical and polite behavior.
  2. They have the patience to listen to a patient’s problem carefully.
  3. A good health care worker is always ready to serve society.
  4. He/She has a good education, training with a real certification.
  5. They must be stable emotionally, have a strong heart and be flexible.
  6. And most importantly, a good healthcare worker must know how to solve the problem and be always be ready for an emergency.

These are some of the characteristics of a healthcare worker that must be present in them.

Role of Community Healthcare Workers

Some of the services are provided by the healthcare workers their communities. They are reducing the patient’s social isolation, appropriately educate the healthcare workers about the needs of patients. They educate them about the topics that are related to physical activity and the prevention of chronic diseases. This community creates a connection between the healthcare providers and the vulnerable populations.

It helps the patient to search the social service system and the healthcare centers. They save the data of stakeholders and continuously update them related to new policies and information programs. The healthcare workers’ community provides referrals, informal counseling, confidence to face the health issues.

Conclusion

Healthcare workers have a tough job. They have to stay attentive, polite all the time. A little ignorance from their side may become the reason for patients suffer and may become the matter of patients’ life and death. A medical translator also working, those interpret the doctor’s message to patients, their job is also not easy. As a healthcare worker, a  person must have good communication skills, strong emotions, and flexibility.
