— December 20, 2018

Earlier this week, Adams Bros. Farming Inc., based in Santa Maria, California, issued a recall of cauliflower and green and red leaf lettuce “out of an abundance of caution.” According to the notice, the recalled produce was harvested between November 27 and November 30 and officials are concerned it may be “contaminated with E. Coli O157: H7.”

In a statement, the farm said that the recall was issued after “sediment in a reservoir that tested positive for E.coli.” The reservoir was located near where the “produce is grown and water from that reservoir may have come into contact with the produce.” It’s important to note, however, that while the recall was issued “out of an abundance of caution,” some farms throughout Santa Barbara County have “tested positive for the bacterial strain.” Unfortunately for consumers, the affected products have been distributed to retailers across the country. Fortunately, the farm has put together a list of identifying product information, which can be found here.

For now, consumers are being advised to return the recalled products to the place of purchase for a refund. If you think you may have consumed the potentially contaminated products, keep a lookout for the following symptoms of E. coli:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Diarrhea
  • Seizures

Shortly after issuing the recall, the farm issued the following statement:

“Adam Bros Farming feels a strong commitment to its customers and has worked for years to provide a safe and healthy food supply.”
