Australian Teens Charged After Brutal Train Station Attack

— October 14, 2026

Three Australian teens face charges after allegedly luring, assaulting, and robbing an autistic teenager.

Three teenage boys in Victoria, Australia, have been charged after a 15-year-old boy with autism was attacked and robbed near a train station in Stawell. The assault took place on October 5 and was recorded on video, showing several teenagers punching and kicking the victim while others watched. Police said the investigation remains active, and officers are continuing efforts to identify everyone involved. According to media reports, the teenager was allegedly lured to the area through a planned meeting arranged on Snapchat with two girls. What appeared to be a social meetup reportedly turned into a violent encounter. Video of the incident shows multiple teenagers striking the boy, knocking him to the ground, and continuing to attack him as he tries to escape. During the assault, one of the attackers demands that the victim hand over his shoes before the group allows him to leave.

Victoria Police announced on Tuesday that three boys, ages 14, 15, and 15, had been charged in connection with the incident. Detectives from the Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Unit carried out four search warrants in the surrounding region before taking the teenagers into custody. Police said the charges against all three include affray, robbery, recklessly causing injury, and theft. The boys are expected to appear in a children’s court at a later date. Authorities also confirmed that a fourth boy, who was not present when police carried out the searches, would be interviewed as part of the continuing investigation. Police have not announced whether additional charges will follow as investigators gather more information about the attack and the people who may have taken part.

The victim, who has autism and epilepsy, suffered soft tissue injuries and possible head injuries after the train station attack. His mother told the outlet that doctors were carrying out further scans to determine whether he had bleeding in his brain. The possibility of a serious head injury added to the family’s concern as the teenager began recovering from the assault. Although the boy has returned home, his mother said the experience has left him frightened and struggling with the emotional effects of what happened. He has reportedly experienced nightmares and is afraid to go outside. His mother’s account reflects the lasting fear that a violent attack can create, even after physical injuries have begun to heal. She expressed relief that her son survived the incident while describing the continuing uncertainty surrounding his recovery.

The attack has also raised concern among residents of Stawell, a town in the Australian state of Victoria. Police Superintendent Dan Davison acknowledged the community’s reaction and said local uniformed officers and detectives had been working to identify those involved since the beginning of the investigation. Davison said police would continue efforts to hold those responsible accountable. He also made clear that violence would not be accepted within the community, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the incident. His comments came as authorities worked to reassure residents following the circulation of footage showing the teenager being repeatedly struck.

Police have described the train station attack as isolated, but additional patrols are planned throughout Stawell while the investigation continues. The increased police presence is intended to help residents feel secure while detectives pursue further leads. Officials have not indicated how long the additional patrols will remain in place.

The case also draws attention to the risks associated with meetings arranged through social media. Online platforms can make it easy for people to arrange gatherings, but false identities, misleading invitations, and hidden intentions can place individuals in dangerous situations. The reported circumstances of this incident show how a planned meeting can quickly become a serious threat when others intend to cause harm.

For the victim and his family, the immediate concern remains his physical and emotional recovery. Medical assessments are expected to help determine the extent of his injuries, while police continue gathering evidence and examining the roles of those suspected of involvement. The three charged teenagers will face the children’s court process, and investigators may take further action as new information becomes available. Authorities have said their work will continue as they seek answers and respond to concerns within the local community.
