Beef Products Inc. Establishes Fund To Help Employees Impacted by Plant Closures

Do you remember the pink slime dispute between Beef Products Inc., ABC, and ABC’s parent company, Disney? Earlier this year the dispute ended when Disney agreed to a $177 million litigation settlement, but the damage to Beef Products Inc. (BPI) had already been done, according to the company. According to the company, the lawsuit damaged its reputation and resulted in a drop in sales, plant closures, and layoffs. Fortunately, the recent settlement has allowed company owners to establish a “$10 million fund to benefit former BPI employees impacted by plant closures.”

Equifax Interim CEO Announces Free Credit Locking Service

Is Facebook Guilty of Age Discrimination?

Discrimination is never acceptable, especially in the workplace. In recent months we’ve seen a lot of stories about racial and gender discrimination in the news, and while it’s become almost common to learn of another lawsuit being filed against, say, Fox News or CNN, news of a discrimination lawsuit being filed against an inclusive organization may be a bit more difficult to believe. Over the years Facebook has made a name for itself as being inclusive and welcoming to all, at least that’s what many thought. However, two new age discrimination lawsuits have some wondering just how inclusive the social media giant is when it comes to age.

California Nonprofit Wants Cancer-Warning Labels on Coffee

Many might be surprised to learn that there has been a long-running dispute in California over whether or not morning cups of coffee should come with cancer warnings. From packaged coffee beans to coffee-house lattes and mochas, one non-profit, the Council for Education and Research on Toxics (CERT), believes the public should be made aware of “the cancer-causing chemical acrylamide” floating around in their cups of joe. In its quest to warn the public, CERT filed a lawsuit against more than 90 companies, including Starbucks, retail shops, and grocery stores.

28,000 Delta Jogging Strollers Recalled Due to Potential Fall Hazard

Jogging strollers are popular among parents committed to living a healthy lifestyle, even if it means having to take their little one along for the ride. The unique strollers allow parents to jog or power walk with ease, so it’s no surprise that they have increased in popularity over recent years. However, because more households now own a jogging stroller of some type, it’s a big deal when a recall pops up, such as the one recently issued for “Delta Children’s J is for Jeep brand cross-country all-terrain strollers.”

The EEOC Files Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Coffee Company, Massimo Zanetti

If you thought major news networks like Fox News were the only ones being accused of sexual harassment these days, think again. A new lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) claims “Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, Inc. violated federal civil rights law when it failed to stop sexual harassment of a female employee and then fired her because she complained about the harassment.”

CDC, FDA Urge Recall of ‘Death Wish Coffee’ Over Botulism Concerns

Have you ever tried what’s been dubbed the “world’s strongest coffee?” Known as “Death Wish Coffee,” an average cup of the brew “contains 12 to 16 milligrams of caffeine per fluid ounce,” much more than your typical cup of joe. Unfortunately for the company behind the product, the FDA and CDC are forcing it to recall “thousands of cans of the cold-brew caffeine drink” after concerns that “toxins responsible for the deadly illness botulism might have made it into” the product.

Trump’s Latest Attack on Obamacare Slashes Outreach Budget

The 2018 healthcare enrollment period is nearly upon us, but it may end up being a bit more chaotic than previous years. Why? Well, it turns out our President has been busy trying to damage the Affordable Care Act, all after basically telling Republicans in the Senate to give up on trying to repeal Obamacare.
