“This Department of Justice has now sued 24 states for failing to provide voter roll data and will continue filing lawsuits to protect American elections,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a press release. “Accurate voter rolls are the foundation of election integrity, and any state that fails to meet this basic obligation of transparency can expect to see us in court.”
The states’ lawsuit argues that the Department of Health and Human Services, at least by itself, lacks the authority to impose such conditions on the disbursal of federal funds. Instead, the attorneys general say, the Trump administration is merely attempting to coerce states into supporting a discriminatory agenda.
“The Constitution demands such respect, and the executive may not unilaterally usurp the authority over elections it seeks to do so here,” Carter wrote.
Missouri has filed a lawsuit against nearly two-dozen pharmacy benefit manager companies, claiming that PBMs and pharmaceutical manufacturers worked together to manipulate market prices for insulin, leading to “skyrocketing prices” for the life-saving medication. “At a time when health care costs continue to soar, we are taking a stand against insulin price manipulation and fraud,”
“UPS built its holiday business on the backs of workers who were not paid for their time and labor,” James said in a statement. “UPS’s seasonal employees work brutal hours in the cold to deliver the holiday packages families across the country count on. Instead of compensating these workers fairly for their labor, UPS has played the Grinch. I am fighting to get these workers their money back and stop UPS from continuing its cruel and unlawful wage theft.”
“We allege that DHS’s use of excessive and lethal force, their warrantless, racist arrests, their targeting of our courts, our churches, houses of worship and schools are a violation of the Administrative Procedure Act on arbitrary and capricious federal actions,” Ellison said. “And we ask that the courts will end the surge of thousands of DHS agents in Minnesota.”
The lawsuit cl;aims that Minnesota requires hiring managers to “jump through additional hoops to hire employees with disfavored skin colors or sex chromosomes.”
New York Attorney General Letitia James, a co-plaintiff in the lawsuit, characterized the funding freeze as an element of an ongoing “campaign of chaos and retribution” that will disproportionately harm “the most vulnerable families.”
“The murders were foreseeable and preventable,” the lawsuit says, claiming that Washington State University should have recognized that Kohberger was likely dangerous.
“New Yorkers deserve clean, reliable energy, good-paying jobs, and a government that follows the law,” James said. “This reckless decision puts workers, families, and our climate goals at risk.”
