If you’re a fan of pistachios, listen up. Earlier this week, Bazzinil LLC issued a recall for 4,000 pounds of pistachios over concerns of potential Salmonella contamination. It turns out that during routine internal testing, some of the products tested positive for Salmonella. As a result, the company, which is based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has halted “production and distribution of several specific products to investigate the source of the bacteria.”

It turns out that during routine internal testing, some of the products tested positive for Salmonella. As a result, the company, which is based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has halted “production and distribution of several specific products to investigate the source of the bacteria.”
According to the recall notice, the affected nuts came from a third-party supplier and states:
“The recall was initiated as the result of a routine sampling program by the company which revealed that the finished product may contain the bacteria. Consumers who have purchased any of the listed Pistachios are urged to return (them) to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
The recalled pistachios were sold to consumers via retail stores, mail order, and direct delivery in a variety of states, including “New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., and Virginia.” Additionally, according to the notice, the recall only involves the following five pistachio products:
- Bazzini’s Roasted & Salted In-Shell Pistachios Super Colossal Natural in 5-pound bags with the UPC number 0 75062 30701 5
- Bazzini’s Roasted & Salted In-Shell Pistachios Colossal Natural in 5-pound bags with the UPC number 0 75062 30711 4
- Bazzini’s Roasted & Salted In-Shell Pistachios Super Colossal Pistachios in 25-pound bulk boxes with the UPC number 0 75062 30700 8
- Bazzini’s Roasted & Salted In-Shell Pistachios Rams Head Natural in 16-ounce bags with the UPC number 0 75062 00536 2
- Bazzini’s Roasted & Salted In-Shell Pistachios Colossal Natural in 16-ounce bags with the UPC number 0 75062 00535 5
