Originally, Jimmy Dean attempted to downplay the seriousness of the recall. Earlier this week, the company recalled 2,845 packages of sausage in what it referred to as a “small amount.” Company spokesman, Worth Sparkman, said 2,845 packages “represented one day’s worth of production in a single plant traced to Aug. 4.” Since then, however, the company has worked with CTI Foods to expand the recall. CTI Foods is the product distributor.

According to the recall notice, the affected products were distributed to the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington.

Because it’s possible for consumers to have some of the recalled sausages in their refrigerators, it’s important to know what specific products are included in the recall. According to the notice, the affected product is 3.4-oz. pouches of ‘Jimmy Dean HEAT ’n SERVE Original SAUSAGE LINKS Made with Pork & Turkey.’” The Use By date is January 31, 2019, and the product case code is A6382168.
