Fox News Slapped With Another Gender Discrimination Lawsuit

— May 8, 2017

Yet another lawsuit has been filed against Fox News, this time for gender discrimination. The lawsuit was filed by Jessica Golloher, a Fox Radio correspondent, who alleges that she was “fired from her job in recent weeks after reaching out to the company to complain about gender discrimination.” For those who don’t know, Fox News has been the subject of countless lawsuits alleging that women and minorities regularly face or have faced discrimination while working for the network.

In the lawsuit filed by attorney Douglas Wigdor, “who is representing eleven current and former Fox News employees who have filed a racial-discrimination lawsuit against the company,” Golloher claims that she was “marginalized and subject to discrimination based on her gender.” As a result of the discrimination she allegedly faced while working at Fox, “she reached out to an independent investigator at 21st Century Fox in an effort to discuss the way she had been treated at Fox News Radio.” According to the lawsuit, within a day of reaching out to the investigator, “and knowing that Ms. Golloher had previously made internal complaints about gender discrimination,” she was fired.

In response to the allegations, Fox News said the claims “are without merit,” and that “her allegations of discrimination and retaliation are baseless.” The network added, “we will vigorously defend the matter.” Others familiar with the incident claim Golloher’s contract with the network was set to expire, as it hadn’t been renewed “due to budgetary concerns.”

As stated before, this recent lawsuit is only one of countless others against the highly-rated network. Earlier this year, the cable-news outlet let go of it’s most popular anchor, Bill O’Reilly, amid a slew of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior allegations. On top of that, “11 current and former employees filed a class-action lawsuit against the network accusing it of racial discrimination,” and a couple weeks ago “Fox News co-president Bill Shine resigned from the company, following accusations that he aided Roger Ailes.” To make matters worse for the conservative news network, “federal investigators are examining whether Fox News made payments to former employees without disclosing them appropriately to investors in its parent company.”

With all of these allegations and lawsuits flying around, one can’t help but wonder what other skeletons are hiding in the network’s closet, just waiting to come out. It will certainly be interesting to see what Fox News will look like once everything gets sorted out, and what sort of changes it will undergo.
