More Than 20,000 Pounds of Frozen Patties Recalled Over Contamination Concerns

A nationwide recall of frozen beef patties was issued yesterday over concerns the product may be contaminated with pieces of plastic. According to the notice, more than 20,000 pounds of frozen beef patties produced on November 30, 2018 are affected by the recall and were distributed to schools across the country. AdvancePierre Foods is the company responsible for producing the patties.

The specific product included in the recall is the “14.06-pound cases containing three bags with 30 pieces for a total of 90 portions of ‘CN FULLY COOKED FLAME-BROILED BEEF PATTIES CARAMEL COLOR ADDED.’According to the notice, the case code is 155-525-0 and the package code is 8334. Additionally, the packages are labeled with “establishment number ‘EST. 2260E’ inside the USDA inspection mark.

So far AdvancePierre has received two complaints from consumers alleging “they found purple plastic in their patties.” However, there has yet to be any reports of illnesses or injuries related to the recall. For now, the company is urging consumers who have the recalled products to either throw them away or return them for a refund.
