Salmonella Scare Prompts Recall of Darwin’s Natural Pet Food

— March 29, 2019

Another popular brand of dog food is being recalled over salmonella concerns. According to a recent notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, three lots of Darwin’s Natural Pet Products dog food are being recalled because “samples from those lots have tested positive for salmonella.” The notice states, “The FDA is issuing this alert because these three lots of Darwin’s Natural Pet Products raw dog food represent a serious threat to human and animal health.”

The specific products affected by the recall are manufactured by Arrow Reliance Inc. The company does business as Darwin’s Natural Pet Products. To better identify whether you have one of the recalled packages of dog food, take a look at the label. According to the FDA, the product codes are printed on the packaging “in the second group of numbers below the barcode.” The specific products involved in the recall and their code numbers are as follow:

One of the FDA’s main concerns is that consumers may have the products in their homes. That’s why it’s important to check the labels, and if you have the potentially contaminated dog food in your home, either throw it away or return it for a refund.

Representatives for Darwin’s Natural Pet Products have yet to respond to requests for comment regarding the matter.
