Settlement Reached Between Tomi Lahren and The Blaze

— May 2, 2017

After nearly two months of bantering back and forth, fiery conservative Tomi Lahren has finally settled her “wrongful termination lawsuit against her former employer Glenn Beck and his online network The Blaze.” The settlement was announced on Monday, and puts to rest Lahren’s allegations that “she was fired from The Blaze for expressing pro-abortion rights opinions during a March episode of the daytime television show The View.”

For those who don’t know, Lahren appeared on an episode of The View back in March. During her visit to the show, she expressed pro-abortion rights opinions that don’t exactly align with conservative values. Specifically, she said:

“I can sit here and say that, as a Republican and I can say, you know what, I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.”

Her comments on The View garnered a lot of backlash from die-hard conservatives and ultimately Lahren was informed that “her employment had been terminated.” She was also allegedly told to “remain quiet about the matter.” Anyone who has ever watched one of Lahren’s segments, though, knows she’s not the type of person to “remain quiet” about anything, and it wasn’t long before she got busy filing a lawsuit against The Blaze for wrongful termination.

However, the media company “denied ever firing Lahren, whose contract was set to expire in September.” Nevertheless, the lawsuit proceeded until news of the settlement broke on Monday. As a result of the settlement, Lahren will be “formally released from her contract with The Blaze and will be allowed to keep the Facebook page connected to her time as a pundit for the company, which has nearly 4.3 million followers.” Additionally, she will be required to “return all of “intellectual property” belonging to The Blaze that was posted on the Facebook page.”

According to reports, both sides are satisfied with the outcome. Brian Lauten, Lahren’s attorney, said in a recent statement, “Ms. Lahren is relieved to have this litigation behind her and she looks forward to connecting with her audience and fan base on the pressing political issues facing our country in the days to come.”

In a separate statement, the media company said, “The Blaze is pleased to announce that the relationship with Tomi Lahren has concluded. Ms. Lahren will continue to have access to her social media accounts as has always been the case.”
