Aside from venue- and jurisdiction-related concerns, the BBC said that, by the time the documentary was released in October 2024, Trump had received so much negative publicity with respect to his actions on January 6 that a brief sequence in a documentary was unlikely to cause the president any more reputational harm than he has already suffered.
“Today, we defeated another one of Donald Trump’s efforts to misconstrue federal law to force Minnesota to abandon duly passed state laws and become a colder, less caring state,” state Attorney General Keith Ellison wrote.
In a statement, Bank of America maintained that it never knowingly aided Epstein in his crimes, but said that the agreement will, at the very least, allow all involved parties to begin moving forward.
“This Department of Justice will continue to pursue accountability at all levels for this wrongdoing,” the agency said. “Such weaponization of the federal government must never be allowed to happen again.”
“Defendants have full visibility into users’ concerning betting patterns and then push the users to gamble further through targeted advertising, personalized ‘bonus’ incentives, and ‘push’ notifications,” the lawsuit alleges.
“X has not alleged that the boycott against it allows or is intended to allow a competing social media company to corner the supply market for online advertising space,” a federal judge wrote in her order to dismiss.
“We argue in this lawsuit that we share jurisdiction with the federal government,” state Attorney General Keith Ellison said. “These incidents happen in Minnesota and fall under Minnesota state law.”
“This is an undeniably targeted policy that singles out one nationality, designed to rob them of the due process they are legally guaranteed and to strip their legal teams of the ability to adequately and ethically prepare their cases for hearing,” an attorney for the plaintiffs said.
The high-profile trial, which began last month in Los Angeles and featured testimony from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, was the first in a group of consolidated claims against social media companies. These lawsuits represent more than 1,600 plaintiffs, consisting of over 350 families and about 250 school districts.
“That all changed when they started using the FanDuel and DraftKings Sportsbook Apps,” the lawsuit alleges. “Within just a few years of placing their first microbets on the Sportsbook Apps, Plaintiffs lost nearly everything.”
