California Lawsuit Deplores Poor Conditions in LA-area Jails

“I am afraid that if I continue my lawsuit, I will personally be subjected to harassment that will negatively impact my mental health, my safety, and my ability to graduate as soon as possible,” plaintiff Lindsay Hecox wrote in a legal filing.
Cavas claims that Chewy’s “deceptive trade practices” result in the overcharging of “its Autoship customers [with] more sales tax than is due on goods which are discounted” through the service.
The lawsuit alleges that the school failed to “perform an investigation or take meaningful disciplinary action against the players or coaches,” even after being presented with evidence corroborating the family’s claims.
“The Norwalk city council’s failure to reverse this ban without a lawsuit, despite knowing it is unlawful, is inexcusable,” Newsom said. “No community should turn its back on its residents in need – especially while there are people in your community sleeping on the streets. No city is exempt from doing their part to solve the homelessness crisis.”
In defense of its decision to freeze certain grants to the plaintiff schools, the Education Department claimed that giving students the freedom to choose bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex, violates Title IX provisions.
“Newsmax cannot sue their way out of their own competitive failures in the marketplace to chase headlines simply because they can’t attract viewers,” Fox said in response to the lawsuit.
“The impact caused catastrophic injuries: multiple fractures to his shoulder, leg, and jaw; life-threatening internal bleeding and organ damage; facial trauma; and permanent injuries requiring surgeries and a future knee replacement,” attorney Ben Crump said. “Despite his critical condition, officers allegedly slammed K.W. to the ground, handcuffed him, did not deliver first aid, and chained him to his hospital bed while denying his mother access to him.”
“It will provide meaningful compensation for each class work and sets a precedent requiring AI companies to pay copyright owners,” an attorney for the plaintiffs said. “This settlement sends a powerful message to AI companies and creators alike that taking copyrighted works from these pirate websites is wrong.”
Another lawyer for the class, John Yanchunis of the law firm Morgan & Morgan, said that—in spite of the lower-than-requested award—he hopes the verdict will send a clear and unambiguous message to Google and other technology companies.
