According to the recall notice, the products were sold at retailers across the country and were “packaged between July 26 and September 7. Some of the brands affected by the recall include the following:

  • Cedar River Farms
  • Gourmet Burger
  • Grass Run Farms
  • Showcase

A full list of the recall products can be found here. The products affected by the recall are labeled with the establishment number ‘EST. 267’ inside the USDA mark of inspection. For now, the company is urging consumers to toss the products in the trash or return them for a refund.

JDS Tolleson Inc. first became aware of the issue when the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection (FSIS) department began receiving reports of people becoming ill with salmonella. After launching an investigation into the matter, the FSIS discovered that 57 people across 16 states had fallen ill from salmonella poisoning and traced the issue back to raw beef products produced by the meat processing company.

Salmonella is a serious condition and usually takes 12 to 72 hours to develop after being infected. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, and is especially dangerous for young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and anyone with a weakened immune system. If you think you may have consumed any of the recalled products, contact your medical provider.
