Fans of Simple Truth macadamia nuts are in for a shortage for the time being, at least in three states. Recently The Kroger Co. issued a recall of their Simple Truth brand macadamia nuts from a number of different retailers over concerns that they may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Graco Children’s Products Inc. just issued a recall of nearly 25,000 car seats. Why? Well, according to a release issued by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), “the webbing that holds a child in place may not adequately restrain the child in an accident.”
A new recall has been issued, this time for two types of beef franks produced and sold by John Morrell and Co., a Cincinnati, Ohio-based company. So far nearly 210,606 pounds of ready-to-eat hot dog products have been recalled over concerns that they might be contaminated with “extraneous materials, specifically metal,” according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Recently, BrightFarms initiated a voluntary recall “of packaged produce sold in Giant Food stores due to the potential presence of metal as a result of construction at its Elkwood, Va., greenhouse farm.” So far, reports claim the affected packages of salad were sold at markets throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia and Washington, D.C., including the “Giant Landover, Giant Carlisle, Peapod and Martin’s Food Markets.” Some officials also believe some of the affected salad may have been “distributed via the Capital Area Food Bank.”
You might want to put your fidget spinner down. The popular stress relief toy has recently come under fire by parents claiming it poses a choking hazard to young children, and their concerns aren’t unfounded. Recently a 10-year-old girl had to undergo “emergency surgery after choking on her fidget spinner, according to a viral Facebook post from the girl’s mother.” Fortunately, the young girl has recovered from the ordeal, but her mother, Kelly Rose Joniec, is working hard to “educate others on the potential dangers of the toys, which were originally intended as a gadget to relieve symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.”
Parents beware! You might want to check what kind of wipes you’ve been buying for your babies. The Honest Company just issued a recall of certain lots of their popular baby wipes due to a “possible mold contamination problem,” according to CBS Miami.
Another recall has been issued, this time for a popular organic chicken sausage produced by Perdue Foods LLC. The recall was issued after complaints started rolling in from customers claiming they found “pieces of blue plastic inside the product,” specifically the “organic Italian chicken sausage manufactured under its Harvestland brand.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued their final report on the deadly outbreak “traced to soft, raw milk cheese from Vulto Creamery of Walton, NY,” officially ending the outbreak. In total, eight people were confirmed with the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes, and all of them required hospitalization.
Baby and child carriers are popular among parents, so it’s unfortunate that a popular brand is recalling thousands of child carriers. Recently, Osprey Child Safety Products and Osprey Packs of Cortez, Colo. decided to recall nearly 88,000 of their Poco child carriers currently being sold in the U.S. and Canada. What happened to prompt the recall? Well, apparently the carriers have been deemed unsafe because “a child seated in the carrier can slip through the leg openings, posing a fall hazard to children.”
Recall Alert! The frozen chicken in your freezer might contain plastic. That’s why Foster Farms has issued a massive recall of nearly “131,880 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat breaded chicken patty products” because they might “be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically plastic,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
