Popular Jewelry Company Settles CFPB Lawsuit

The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, filed a lawsuit against Sterling Jewelers Inc, accusing the wholly owned jewelry subsidiary of Signet Jewelers Ltd, of improper credit financing practices.  Sterling was accused of submitting credit applications and causing credit cards to be issued without the knowledge or consent




Acting NY Supreme Court Judge Tosses Jewish Discrimination Suit Against Airmont

Note: this article previously reported that the First Liberty Institute had been involved with a state-level lawsuit against Airmont. While the First Liberty Institute has been involved in federal litigation against the village, they did participate in the recently-dismissed lawsuit. A New York state judge has dismissed a discrimination lawsuit brought by a Hasidic Jewish







Au Pairs Win $65.5M Wage Dispute Lawsuit

A group of almost 10,000 au pairs recently won a wage dispute lawsuit filed against U.S. “companies authorized to bring au pairs to the U.S.” According to the lawsuit, a dozen au pairs argued that 15 “companies that bring the workers to the U.S. conspired to keep wages low.”
